Fan clutch nut to water pump torque spec = 40Nm?

I hope nobody is going to torque this nut to 40Nm or 29.5 ft lbs -- as called out in the torque spec file -- to the water pump shaft as this is unnecessary and causing headache to remove later. Just snug it to 1ft lbs is enough. To remove, just hit the wrench with a hammer and no special tool needed.

I don’t bother torquing it at all. Just tighten it until it bottoms out. It’s reverse threaded and isn’t going to come off.

      Same. 40Nm is insane.

Yeah, just turn it by hand until it bottomed out. If the nut is not bottomed out then when the engine rev up this would tighten the nut quite tight. This is why I make sure people need to bottom the nut out by suggesting 1 ft-lbs.
