    brake booster question

posted on mforum.net, but no responses ..
hope to get some input from here~

    hi forum members,

    '02 m3 here..

was doing the brake booster replacement work ..
just found out the part i ordered "34332282622" is for '03 onward ..
and currently on the car was installed with "34332228985"..

do anyone know if i can still install the 34332282622 to my car?
the obvious difference i see is the thickness of the part .. so, maybe brake master cylinder will be a bit more toward the firewall ..
seems orientation is all the same..

currently car is having a symptom of leaking somewhere .. pedal becomes firm after couple hrs of parking ..

thank you and appreciate any insights..

    .
Firm, or hard to push down as when engine not running?

like when engine is off, park for couple hrs... brake pedal becomes rock hard to push down .. (no boost)
i need to kick down a bit deeper (it's SMG) to turn on engine ..

then brake free up ..becomes "normal" ..

during normal operation .. i can hear a air hissing sound when "press on brake, and release the pedal" ..
so, i assume, booster is on the way out for sure. .

and updated on the part#: 34332282193 ---> this is the booster listed on realoem ..and the right part i need i guess ..
just hope i can still use the 34332282622 ... since i can't exchange the part now ..

Check and compare the dimension from the booster pushing rod tip to the master cylinder mounting plane; if they are the same then the new booster rod doesn't push on the MC piston in neutral state. You can mount it and if the brake steel pipes can fit then just do a test, as it's just a booster -- moving the push rod with amplified force and so I don't see what's the big deal.

its fine. it will work with out any issues.

the ordered part is the replacement now from bmw.

          the old part is discontinued

i haven't take out the old one yet, afraid it won't fit..

the dimension looks the same, but the "thickness" of these 2 parts are different ..

so i see potential shift from of the "brake master cylinder" a bit inwards toward the firewall ..
so, looks like the 'brake line, abs line" length would be affected .. not sure if i can stretch it ..

i actually see 3 part# ..and got the 3rd one by mistake ..
perhaps part# ending with 622 use a different vacuum line compares to part# ending with 193

i check realoem again, and i think my model year goes with 193 ..instead of the 622 part# ..
                one thicker, one thinner ..

will check it later tonight, maybe i just turn it 180 degree , socket orientation may be the same..

when first looking at it .. it's the thickness bothers me .. since all the piping would need to be changed..

One booster is meant for MK 20 cars and one booster is meant for MK 60 cars.

If you use the thinner booster which is for MK 60 cars basically 03 and above essentially... Then you need to run the specific brake booster line that goes from the air rail to the booster It connects to the hole you're talking about the proper way.

If you're running the thicker booster which has the brake booster line input hole on the opposite side down lower then you need to run that specific brake booster hose line
