Everything was spot on (didn't post the other checks but they were basically perfect) except the intake cam had an asymmetrical advance/retard time. Valve body or solenoid pack? Still ok I guess and drives well. Kept original pump disc and replaced hub with VAC hub. Replaced VANOS accumulator and pressure regulator.

It was a real pain in the ass on Z4M with that cross-member there. I even used the air tool and it still sucked and I was unsure if the pistons were bottomed out.

It drives well and I won't chase that 293 ms intake advance but I do wonder what causes that.

If you run it again with oil a bit cooler it improves, but is not an issue. Tolerance is 500ms so is all good.

chris719 Dang, MSS70 shows commanded and actual VANOS values in INPA? I'm not seeing that for the MSS54 in INPA, am I just looking in the wrong place?

Sorry I don’t have an M3, just Z4M, so I can’t confirm what MSS54 shows normally and I’m not familiar with the menus.
