    Two IAT’s installed?

Hey all, so upon removing the VF blower o noticed the car had been wired with 2 IAT’s.

One originally the MAF (poorly wired at that)

And one spliced in directly in what appears to be in unison...

Likely a long shot as most install kits not remove, but does anyone have an idea of how to clean this up? Ironically the car pulls (HTE Tune) harder than any other s54 I’ve owned, but it idles like shit unless I rev it to 4K, then it’s fine (PO told me this “trick”) obviously this is a terrible solution and I’m thinking it has to do with this wiring hack job

Excuse the dust. Car has sat for 5 months while I slowly find time to wrench on its many issues. Only now is it in a condition to test drive around the neighborhood and work through its gremlins.

Where the second IAT sensor? Maybe I'm not understanding correctly, it looks as if the MAF wiring was snipped and now you simply have the one IAT just forward of the strut tower. I would be checking the correct wires are being tapped into, connections, resistance etc. Off hand those wires that are butt connected to the MAF wires look a little on the large side possibly. I would definitely solder that connection as well, it's already been hacked off.

One is plugged into the Airbox (MAF wiring)

The other is seen zip tied there (spliced in directly)

Got it, duh, I would ditch the one in the airbox due to heatsoak, leave it place to plug the hole. Maybe you could put the other one further down where the pipe comes up out of the bumper brake ducting piece.
One thing that might be an issue is the sensor plugged into the airbox and the sensor ziptied appear to be different style (and part #) sensors. You must have that accouted for, Martyn's tool will allow to change from CSL IAT(airbox mounted) to the US IAT (ziptie mounted) sensor, the scaling is different between sensors.

As I assumed, Hassan (HTE) recommended removing the spliced IAT. No clue why the VF kit would need two of them?
