High Oil Temps on Track--Hood Vent Improvement?

    Hey Guys,
I know the issue of high oil temps on track has been discussed a lot, but I ran this weekend with ambients between 64-74 and am seeing some real high oil temps, naturally at the end of sessions. I plan on blowing out the oil cooler lines and cleaning the oil cooler between events but an issue popped up that I wanted to run by some of y'all. For those running vented hoods, (whether installed or pre-cut CF), do you see any reduction in oil temps from this mod? Thanks for your time.

so what temps did you have for the oil? did you have any data running to confirm?

      Define "high"?

      250-260 is normal/healthy/fine.

Yea, apologies, actual temps would be helpful for this one. I do run a data logger, peak temps were between 256-262. It sounds like I am in the acceptable range or close to it. My worry is the effect of higher ambients where I live (90+) in the summer but we shall see. Seemed high to me but these numbers make me feel better.

        Edit: Max reached 264

You're not overheating it till you're over 290.

I'd do nothing unless you get to a point where there's actually an issue. What you're experiencing is completely normal. Those are the oil temps when I see the ambient air is 40 or 100.
(you could blow it clean or whatever, but not upgrade parts unnecessarily)

Run it and don't worry about those temps. My member track has a power hour in the morning and I'll run it as long as I can until I run out of gas and the oil temps are a steady 250-260ish.

Thoes temps like everyone said for track use are normal. Just make sure you're using the right viscosity oil. If you have issues in warmer weather upgrade the oil cooler and/or diverter valve. Although thoes upgrades will make the car less stretable because you're gonna be waiting longer for the oil to get to operating temp. Only do it if necessary or if jts a track only car
