    Driver side window

I’m having a weird. Intermittent issue with my driver side window which I’m hoping someone can point me in the right direction. The window will only go down. Intermittently but go up every single time. I thought maybe it was the motor for the window so I replaced it, no dice. Ok. Maybe the switch, replaced it and it didn’t fix the issue. Fuses 47 and 48 are both good on the car. If I hold the unlock button down it does not go down either. I’m not an electrical guy so I don’t know how to check relays or know how to diagnose if they are bad. Has anyone had an issue like this an resolved it. I’m really hoping it’s not the command module (SR5? I think it’s called) but also wouldn’t know how to test to see if it was.

    looking for assistance. Thanks!

Maybe unplug and reconnect the switches and then do the window reset?

    Key to position 2
Hold the window switch down till it goes down all the way (if yours will respond).
Let go, and then hold it down again for 10 seconds.
Then pull the switch up till the window goes all the way up
Then pull the switch up again and hold for 10 seconds.

I was able to get my window to work properly, both the one touch up/down and the window dropping to open door/then go back up once closed.

Gave this a try. Unfortunately it did not respond to the window reset

GM5 module maybe or door actuator. I've been lucky to avoid any issues on my silvergrey car, but from what I've seen from others, those are the other 2 that cause problems.

Remove the GM5 which is inside the glove box. Open the cover and slide the circuit board out and place on table with the connector pointing away from you, then the left front door motor relay is at the top right corner. there are 2 relays inside the plastic relay unit -- top relay is for moving down. Using Exacto knife carefully cut the relay plastic box around near the top and remove the top off (don't cut lower as you might cut into the relay coil). with it opened you can see what's inside and may need to trim around the box more to get down to the relay contact. Using the Exacto back side (not the sharpe blade) -- 90 degrees edge -- to scrap and clean the contacts. Clean both relays. It's ok to leave the cut relay open.

Thanks for the input. I followed your instructions to the T and it fixed my issue. After doing more research, I decided to just replace the relay as it seems cleaning them is just a bandaid. 10 bucks later its as good as new. Thank you!

If you are concerned about scratching the contact with exacto knife you can use a soft pencil eraser to remove any corrosion on the contact points

What an idea! The contacts have a very narrow gap in between them, so how do you get the pencil eraser in there? Is this a special kind of pencil for the ants?

How did you remove the old relay? Best way is to cut its pins off from the circuit board (chop the relay to pieces down to the pins), then melt the solder pad and pull each pin out, then wick out the solder to clear the mounting holes ready for the new relay.
