    SMG connector pin removal

    Hi All

I'm in the process of replacing my SMG pump motor, and I have the motor removed from the pump assembly already, but I'm stuck at the very last step, which is to remove the pins from the connector. I have to the pin removal tool, but no matter how hard I push the pin just won't come out. (and I have already destroyed a pin...)

For those who have done the SMG pump motor replacement, can you please share any tips on removing the pins from the connector?

    Thanks

Most pins have a barb. Post a pic of the connector and wire/pin end.

That white part is all connected but blue arrow is open and the red arrow is locked position.

Try wedge a small screwdriver between the black and white tabs.

I marked a spot (blue dots) or where the red circle is you can push toward blue arrow on both side to unlock it.

You really should use the specialized tool for the pin removal, but you can also use a thin tube to slide between the barb and the connector.

Yes, but what many DIY guides I've seen misses is this step, which is to unlock the pins first by pushing the white tab (as shown in my attachment), and then use the specialized pin removal tool. I kept pushing on the pins with the specialized tool without unlocking the pins firs and I got nowhere.
