    Rebuilt rear axles from ECS?

Getting ready to replace my rear wheels bearings. Car has 131k miles. Thought to replace the axles as well, but don’t think I need brand new. Anyone have experience with these rebuilt axles from ECS?

If you're going to go that route, there are cheaper options on RockAuto.

There's also Burkhart Engineering's option to rebuild inner CV joint (link). I didn't see an option to rebuild the outer CV joint though.

Personally I avoid everything from ECS these days.

Geez that is crazy cheap! I'm also getting ready to rebuild my subframe and replace bearings and my plan was to rebuild the inners with this kit. For $100 it would be way easier to replace the whole thing. Anyone have actual experience with these?

Agree, I assume both ends are rebuilt on the ECS option. Wouldn’t more people be willing to trust ECS over Rock Auto?

In all likelihood ECS is reselling from the same vendors that RA is selling.

ECS is all marketing. I would put them on equal quality as RA with the advantage that ECS probably has better customer service.

These days, ECS is merely a parts warehouse. The same as RockAuto. You can buy Bilstein on either site, for example. RA also has a 5% off coupon floating around at all times.

As someone relatively new to the M3 community, what's the context behind the sour taste towards ECS? Apologies if this is off-topic for the thread.

The company that owns ECS also owns Turner and Pelican, I guess ECS started small and got bought out and with that came some negative things from some people's perspective, that is putting it very simply.
Personally have never had any issues with ECS but use FCP whenever possible after reading a few things, and oh yea, the whole warranty thing is good as well.

Also, I may buy a pair on these axles for when I pull the subframe, if anyone has had experience with these it sure would be nice to hear about them. Thanks, didn't know that was even on ECS. Turner sells a remaned driveshaft for $750 on a somewhat related note.

I have bought a lot of stuff from ECS and have always had a good experience and service, and the few ECS branded items I have bought have been fine from a quality and fit perspective, and they always work with you if you need to claim a bad part, etc.

i have used their VANOS high pressure line and braided brake lines and countless of original BMW parts, they have good prices and free shipping. I don't get the bashing some give here to be honest.

The ECS acquisition killed Turner motorsports. You used to be able to call up Turner and get someone on the phone who designed the part they sold and give quality advice.

Now they gave taken the Turner designs, and get the cheapest fab shop to produce them. Monoball FCABs are a perfect example, the quality went way down.

The last straw was when I ordered a full set of Turner whee studs. The studs that arrived were of clearly mixed metalurgy from different manufacturers. Their response was “that is normal”. I showed up to the track and failed tech because they thought I was swapping wheel studs one at a time, until I showed them the email chain.

I still buy things like oil change kits and stuff for the Audi from ECS, but I don’t trust any of their house brand stuff.

I bought some rockauto axles and will get back on here with updates. For $70 ea, I figured I'd be the guinea pig. If they break, I'm not out much if they do. There is a 2 year warranty.

ECS has caused me many problems. Pelican has not gotten any of my three orders right. Third time is enough for me. They got most of my dad's orders wrong as well. ECS has mystery delays ALL THE TIME. Even when something is in stock, they'll wait three or four days after the projected ship date to send it. Then it's one of those things that you hope they got right because they couldn't get that right. They've screwed me a couple time on overnight shipping for projects I need done. I only go for the clearance now.

Bimmerworld has been the opposite experience everytime. Ships early, and has never been wrong. FCP is also great.

For what its worth ive used ECS for over 5 years and thousands of dollars in orders with no issue. However, after learning about the FCP warranty (late to the party, i know) the choice became obvious

I'm definitely interested in your thoughts on these axles, such as their fit/finish, and other qualities like noise and durability. Please keep us posted.

Which brand did you get from Rockauto, GSP? Seems like a China factory, but interestingly they have a east coast distribution center in Spartanburg, SC.
