It does share 7% of total parts with the 3 series. Pretty much the same car, amirite?

I ran them on my actual 3-series (03 330i) and I felt they cheapened the driving experience a good bit. Pedal went from nice and reasonably firm to really having to step on it to get equivalent braking power. I didn’t even drive that car aggressively, just commuting. It was the beater so I never bothered switching back but I won’t run them again.

Just a 3-series or not, the M3 is a decently special car to drive when set up right, and brake dust isn’t that hard to clean ...

It’s not that serious is my point. Wanting a quiet less dusty brake setup on a 3series shouldn’t be looked down on

BMW have always designed the M3 with compromise. That’s why it’s so great. Not everything has be hardcore.

And yes, it’s a 3series. This isn’t a bad thing, this is why they make such great street cars

              If you think the M3 is a similar experience to a 3 series, I think you haven’t driven a 3 series 😜

That said, I also think ceramic pads are ruinous to what makes the 3 series great.

Agree to disagree then. The sunroof (lack of headroom) and super high stock seats bother me more than ceramic pads.

The sunroof was an option that someone actively chose to get.

Ceramic pads are an aftermarket, form over function, detrimental modification.

An option most m3 buyers got. Bcs m3’s are designed by bmw with compromise in mind...for convenience...for the everyday driver. Like the stock seats with super high seating position

OP, look into Zechausen website linked below. Lots of options. You can email him as well, very knowledgeable guy and responds quickly.

Thank you for your feedback and steering the discussion back on point. It was never my intent to start turmoil with this discussion but it seems some are more sensitive to the subject than others. I thought that since this is a 20 year old car, the ceramic pad tech had advancements that would allow for better overall cermaic pad - For now, i have ordered the HAWK ceramic pads to try them out, if i don't find the bite I'm looking for, I'll simply go back to OEM.

People always say the OE brakes are more than enough to engage ABS on the street. So is it not a possibility that the ceramics can achieve the same just with more pedal force? Full disclosure, I’ve never driven ceramic pads, just playing devils advocate

You'd think so. I am curious if there is a good ceramic pad out there too since I really dislike the dust but will not sacrifice feel/stopping ability for it. I think Porsche has a tungsten carbide coating on their rotors that is supposed to help. Not sure how effective it is but until that trickles down to the aftermarket, might have to just deal with it. You can also try a high quality cryo rotor. Have no idea how effective cryo is on rotors but am curious if there is a difference. Armorall also has a product called outlast but the msds says might be damaging to fertility so...hard pass.

Cryo is marketing, to put it lightly.

Centric Posi-Quiet Semi-Metallic pads (part numbers starting with 104) are a solid option for reducing dust while not throwing pedal bite/feel away completely. They're cheap, too. I haven't met a ceramic pad that I like yet. My daily has 104 pads on it now, and my wheels aren't any dirtier than the rest of the car after not having washed it for a few weeks.

It there a car sold with any remote claim of sportiness that comes with ceramic pads?
