New OE Bumper from BMW Dealership Issue

I was super excited today after picking up my brand new bumper. Brought it home. Unpacked it and decide to inspect it.

Immediately I noticed a broken pieced of plastic, but upon further inspection it looks like it was a piece of mold that wasn’t thrown out. Fine. Moving on...

Then, I tried to fit the reflectors. They just don’t fit. I walked over to my existing, busted bumper - they fit fine. Cutouts look like they were done by hand. Quality is what I would expect from an aftermarket bumper... not OE.

You all are a fairly judgy bunch — thoughts?

Id take it back to the dealership. If they are a respectable establishment they would see the obviously poor workmanship and replace

The reflector holes on my bumper look like that too and I absolutely hate it. Hand cut garbage.

My guess is that they're just still making the euro spec and cutting the reflector holes to make it fit the US. I'd return it and order the euro spec with no reflectors.

You bought a new bumper and didn’t get the euro bumper that eliminates the reflectors altogether?

EU bumper is not available for pre LCI cars. Dealer wouldn’t sell it to me and ECS ETA is end of August.

I ordered the euro bumper from bimmer world- quick delivery, well packaged, looks great on my car now!

I didn’t think facelift affected front bumper?

it’s a different part number. Different bumper for a non Kevlar support, also washer fluid tank and a few other bits are different.

I really really wanted the EU bumper but judging by the pictures, US bumper starts its life as an EU bumper then a drunk German does his thing with a dremel.

part number is 51112695241, if you search it on bimmeworld, it doesn’t show up.

Only if your car was produced in 2001. I

And if I remember correctly, BMW dealerships will price match other BMW dealerships

but didn’t see your post on the aluminum carrier so it seems your car may have been produced on 11/01 or before

My car is a 2002 build but I suppose they switched to Kevlar sooner in EU markets.

This place allegedly can still get them, but I’ve never heard of https://www.bmwpartsworldwide.com

the name is like a mix of mpartsworldwide and getbmwparts

If that particular bumper is very difficult to get in the configuration that you want, then maybe you should hold onto it and just fix it with some sanding etc

It’s getbmwparts.com which is a parts website from a bmw dealership in silver springs Maryland
