NCS Expert - code out steering wheel airbag SRS light

Figured this would be an easy Google search in 2024 for what I thought was a pretty common thing, was even going to post in the Dumb Questions thread; but does anyone have handy which piece of the SRS airbag module .man file needs to be set to ‘not active’ with NCS to disable the SRS light for the steering wheel airbag being removed?

I'm about to install a 350mm steering wheel, and no amount of googling has got me the answer to which line of the code needs to be set to ‘nicht_active’ for it lol.

FWIW I have Recaro buckets and had coded out the SRS light for the seats, so have those set to not active. Im assuming its a different piece of code for the steering wheel airbag and that the light will come on if i remove my stock wheel without coding for it. Just want to take care of it during the wheel install, really don't like driving with lights on the dash

You cannot code those out as they are an integral part of the diagnostic system of the RCM. You can however, put a 2 ohm resistor to bridge the squib connectors.

Really? Damn, thats news to me :/ I had figured it’d be the same as coding out the lights for the seat sensors after installing buckets. Guess that explains the lack of finding an easy coding answer when I was searching lol.

The OMP wheel hub I bought came with w/ a resistor, but it looks like the E46 airbag has two plugs/connectors; do I need to get a 2nd resistor to make sure the srs light goes out? Or is the one resistor used to jump between the two airbag plugs? I dont have the airbag out yet so just going off pics/videos I've seen online.

        Yes, one per squib connection

Thanks maupineda, found this on Amazon, looks to be exactly like the OMP provided one.

While I dont need the 2 pack it’s reasonably priced only $15 with prime delivery arriving tomorrow

Those will work. In fact you can depin the squib connector and transfer it to your resistors for a clean execution. Maybe from eBay or junk yard you can get a spare harness. That is how I would do it.

Interesting, yeah i was already thinking to depin the two horn wires from the airbag harness since space in the wheel hub is so limited as it is (not running horn). And with both the squib wiring and the two resistors wires being so long too i might look into doing that. Thanks for that!

BigRussia did you end up coding out with NCS Expert or do the above workaround? I just used NCS Expert successfully to code out what was being thrown for the halo seats and harnesses in my track prepped '06; previous, previous owner had just stuffed black foam in the instrument cluster LED pocket and I wanted to see if I could resolve with coding (and be alerted to any legit airbag fault(. Anyway, these four seem to align with the driver airbag:

                AIRBAG_FAHRER_1
                AIRBAG_FAHRER_2
                FAHRERBAG_STUFE2_1
                FAHRERBAG_STUFE2_2

I believe both electrical plugs are wired in parallel, so only one resistor would be required. At least on my car they were when I probed them with my DMM, but worth double checking on your own setup. I just assumed this was for redundancy.

Hey sorry I did not follow up, I ended up running two resistors and worked perfectly, no SRS or airbag light. I just tucked them into the wheel hub and they're out of sight. The amazon $15 wasn't a 2 pack either, just came with one but had a pic of two lol.

Just a heads up for anyone in the future, the OMP wheel hub is trash and doesn't line up centered, I ended up returning it and went with a MOMO one instead and lined up much better.
