    SAP DME Programming Issue

So my 2001 M3 SAP will not ready up for emissions. It’s the final monitor needed here in Georgia and it must pass. My SAP is deleted on the car and my friends and I went in and Flashed the DME to factory non SAP euro spec. Things we have tried

    1. ECUWorkz tool -13th byte for 170 DTC set changed to 00

    2. Set 170 DTC entire 14byte string to 00000000 (this is standard practice for swaps)

    3. Tried the OE String for 170 SAP Delete

I did one Cold start cycle this morning to work and it is still not ready. Any ideas on what can be done?

My software version is this: 211322002101-J429.

An extra note, we also tried a 4th thing for this car. I did the OE string for every SAP related DTC. Which I believe was 63, 170 and 171. I modified one of the swap XDFs and sub'd it in that way.

    String:00 28 28 03 02 03 02 00 01 02 03 28 00 FF

I'm Georgia and sap is not specifically required for emissions..what are you talking about?

You can have 1 monitor not ready for 2001-2006 cars and for 2000 cars and below you can have 2 monitors not ready.

What else are you showing not ready that is forcing you to get SAP ready?

      Evap?
      Secondary o2s?

Unless you are in Georgia the country not Georgia the state?

Hmmm I was under the impression 2001 and up had to all be ready you just can have one failed. You’re saying if it is not ready I can pass since all other monitors have passed? That would be sweet.

Yes, in the state of Georgia you can have one monitor showing not ready which would be sap in your case. And as long as all other engine monitors are showing ready and you have no check engine light then you should be good to go to pass emissions.. I do it all the time. Usually I have everything ready except EVAP lol

There's no such thing as a factory non-SAP tune for the M3, even in europe they all came with an SAP. To my knowledge deleting the relevant errors but leaving everything else untouched does successfully get it to set to 'ready'. You can also modify the program to get it to register as 'not applicable'
