What kind of MPGs are you all getting?

I know the M3 was not made to be a fuel efficient vehicle... But I'm questioning why my 2002 M3 seems to get worse MPG's than my previously owned 2004 M3. Both cars I had within the 120k range, and both mechanically sound and up-to-date. In the 04, I would see highway MPGs of around 25mpg, while in the 02 it's hard for me to crack 22mpg. In the city in the 02, I'm getting about 16mpg whereas in the 04 I would get closer to 18-20. Both cars are stock.

My driving style is pretty modest, yet spirited at times. I'm not giving it the beans every opportunity I have.

What MPG's are you guys getting? Also, was there any difference in early MY cars that was changed in later MY cars that made them slightly more fuel-efficient?

In the end, it's all about the smiles per gallon, but I'm curious.

My 02 6speed with 99k miles would give me 21 mpg highway, 13-15, city. My 06 SMG with 72k miles after headers, tune, exhaust, gave me at least 18-20 city and around 25 highway. This is all when I drove it like I didn't steal it. Normally I get 285-320 miles out of a tank. Usually end up putting 15.5 gallons in so that's 18 average with spirited driving. Worst tank was 220 miles. Best was around 432 miles which is 28 mpg.

Mine is an '02 SMG with 245/35/19 Fronts, 275/30/19 Rears, I get about 14.5 - 15.5 90% City. This is the same with my engine at 138kmi AND on a fresh build. I have seen about 21 with more Highway. I think I might get as much as 22-24 with mostly Highway keeping it at 75 MPH or so. I have a friend with an '04 SMG with about 172kmi rolling on 225/45/18 Fronts & 255/45/18 Rears and he says he sees around 20-22 City and 25-28 Highway. He runs at SMG Level 3 where I am almost always at Level 5. I don't run hard in the city but typically run 80+ highway.

You're probably getting better mileage until you put your foot in it. My supercharged S55 got better mileage after I tuned it for more boost.

On this, I see about 16 street, 24 highway, which is actually better than everything else in my stable. But I don't do a ton of driving so it doesn't really matter.

Around 36 mpg at 80 MPH, and like 5.X at the racetrack.

                      FYI, not how superchargers work

16 to 18 mpg mostly city and depending on how spirited
