Advice on a hood

Had a WRL buddy lose the hood into the windshield due to the aluminum aerocatches, 3 other teams came up and told him not to use the aluminum ones. Get the steel.

I think... the problem is the pin in the latch is steel. So if there is play where the hood can move up and down it will gall out the aluminum pin and eventually fail. They probably didn't cut the grommet to get a tight fit. Despite that, I think steel is a much better choice considering the damage a hood can do if it flies open. Especially a stock aluminum hood.

some mount them towards the middle. And I think the latches are better mounted so they pop up towards the front. Makes more sense but…too late.

Yeah but why take the chance. I still have the aluminum ones - they are very soft and can loosen up. You can't really torque them since the threads are aluminum.
