    WTB: 996 Caliper rebuild kit

Hey guys, I'm looking for a caliper rebuild kit for the 996 calipers front and rear. They're out of stock so I figured I'd try here. Thanks.

        OE brembo

Otherwise, the best kit from Centric, branded stoptech, hi-temp grey colored boots (black seals) are OK, maybe the same as those above, but I would hope better. Buy extra 'cause you'll get a seal here and there that doesn't fit. Dust boots aren't that important, just inner seals.

I preferred to find a low mileage set of calipers with great condition seals and not use aftermarket. OE brembo is $$$.

Tbonem3 would you mind posting a link or part numbers for front and rear? That would be a great help, thanks!

I just found your thread. Lots of useful information but I didnt see any p/n's for the rebuild kits. The store on ebay has no inventory and I checked their actual website but Im unsure of the rebuild kit I would need.

This guy usually has the Stoptech stuff in stock. Very knowledgeable and helpful.

I’ve used racing brake with success on many calipers. I used their rebuild kit with SS pistons front and rear in my 996 calipers. No need to buy the pistons - they sell just seals and boots as well.

Thank you for this. Would these be the correct parts for the 996 calipers?

D-O Thanks.. I just checked their website under different types of Porsches and it seems that everything is backordered on there as well.

FYI, there's no point replacing the current boots on your calipers unless they've cracked/torn/fallen to bits. They just keep dust out. The seals are what matters, not just to seal hydraulic pressure, but to provide the elasticity to pull the pistons back so that they don't drag on the rotors.

I’m doing a color change on the calipers. It’s only right to put new seals no? The boots are optional. The seals I definitely need.

Seals have nothing to do with color change or not. You'd replace seals if the existing ones weren't holding pressure or didn't drag the pistons back appreciably after pressure is released. Hopefully, the painter protects/blocks the bores well, whether you have seals in there or not.

I still feel more comfortable rebuilding the calipers prior to installing them on my car. Thank you anyway.
