had a call two weeks ago saying it will be in within next two weeks, popped in yesterday to pick up some other parts, now they changed their mind again and don't have a date:smt099. grrrrrr.
According to a guy of a guy here in Australia, carbon roofs are back on the menu. Can someone confirm?
This is cool - aligns with my thinking that NLA doesn't mean that it's NLA forever, it's just that demand needs to build up to a point where it's worthwhile creating another batch via a supplier sub-contract.

Okay after pulling numerous strings and basically bending over asking favours from the highest order I have just witnessed an email from the main parts ordering and production plant in Germany and basically the person that knows all about parts and what is made and what isn't and the response is the Carbon Roof is NOT back on the menu and will never likely be.
So there you have it gents.
And unfortunately I wasn't allowed the phone number or email for this contact :bigcry: - was gonna email him and place an order for a 100 roofs :hahaha:
Thanks for confirming. By the way that guy I mentioned received a steel roof!
If someone senior and passionate enough in BMW knew that that iconic CSL's were being given steel roof replacement rather than carbon ones, I am sure they would be a little embarrassed.
But maybe not embarrassed enough to do anything about it.

I think given how the prices of CSL carbon pieces have been going north recently I am guessing perhaps BMW is waiting until there are enough desparate owners around and less actual working cars before they perhaps bring it back as a Mobile Tradition part and charge 10x of what it used to cost. Either that or the mould for the roof was damaged when they shifted all the carbon work back to BMW and they can't be arsed building another one.

It's costly for BMW to show emotions :hahaha:
BTW Driver side drive half-shafts (on RHD CSLs) are currently unavailable and on a mother of a "back order" :banghead:
The strangest thing is they are not even CSL specific part as it's the same part / part number: 33207839468 as regular E46 M3 :banghead:

Quick update: the above mentioned drive shaft is back in stock @ £500 per corner. Bargain ! :banghead:
... oh and they want your old one back as part of the deal or it's another £100 on top, in surcharge :bigcry:
