    WTF was I thinking...........

...........that a jap scrapper would keep me happy:banghead:

Had gearbox issues, now it seems that the piston rings have not bedded in correctly and it is failing leakdown tests:banghead:

I used to book trackdays and not worry whether the car (CSL) would survive, in short I had confidence in the CSL. Dont get me wrong my CSL had little issues, but I was never worried about trackdays or booking trackdays.

With this Evo I am worried about doing trackdays, esp before the ring trip, in case it breaks. I just have no confidence in it.
I have told the guys who built the engine and box that I want it back to standard. I gave them the car the day of our Christmas night out and its still not ready.
They are putting it all back to standard and I am trading it in ASAP.
I have a great relationship with the lads that built it, I have not fell out with them, but they know they have let me down, so they are rectifying it for me- top guys.

What am I getting to replace it?
    CSL, been there done it.
    Pork, likewise
Exotic- too much dough to run
    GTR- likewise.

I said the E92 was on my to do list, and that is what I am going to get, I have fell in love with a certain colour too.

I am plumping for an as new as possible (2010) E92 coupe dakar edition.
I have seen a few, just need to thrash out a suitable deal.

Its definitely a Marmite colour, but I quite like marmite too:smokin:
Colour decision is not set in stone, there are a few colours to go for, depends on car.

Whats your thoughts, guys? Right decision?

I certainly know that I will never ever ever ever ever own a jap scrapper performance car again.
    German for me forever.

Sorry to hear that Shane but it's better to realise that now than broken down somewhere in Germany.

Liking the E92. Colour not for me but very striking. E92 will need some work to feel great on track though. Weight is the issue. Great engine though and even better with a good map and full Arka exhaust. I hear a genuine 455-460bhp is easy with that set-up.

Fook me Shane, you change cars like i change wheels at a track day! :hahaha:

Sorry to hear the EVO hasn't gone to plan but at least you have plans to return to the German marques :smokin:

I really like the Dakar yellow and i think it suits the E92 better than it did on the E46. I think silver wheels would look better than the black ones on the car in those pics though...

Alfas and fiats are too slow:hahaha::hahaha:

Ferrari and the likes are out of my league for my plans.
Road use they would be fine and just within my budget, but I want a road/track car and the M3 suits the bill. Exotic too much to run on track for me.

Nearly bought a 360 a few years back. Nice cars, but just not me.

The dakar is not to everyones tastes, but I fell in love as soon as I saw one. Its definitely 1st colour of choice, 2nd colour choice- fuck knows:hahaha:

I personally love this colour, but agree with comment's so far - you'll have to do a fair bit to lighten it up for the track - these are heavy beasts! But with the exhaust system already mentioned they sound amazing!

Shame about the evo though - I looked at one before buying the CSL, but 100% sure I made the right choice now :smokin:

                          Lawsy

A couple of times when we have spoken recently I have held back on joking about Jap turbo reliability (esp when you are fiddling with it). Partly because I felt your pain at the other end of the phone and partly coz my ride ain't so perfect recently!!!

But even though mine has had some new bits in 2010 it never has always got me home after one of the 60 track days and has only been complaining when I have seriously abused her.

I think German suits you, I think you should scratch that AMG itch and buy a Black Series......

IMO, with the right change £££ thrown at it i think the E92 M3 would make a nice track/road car. I've had an eye on them for a while so will be keen to know your thoughts..

                            BTW - Nice body & wheel combo:supz:

Black series too much dough for me, plus not really got the skills to drive one fast. You need to be a real hero to be fast in one.

I keep coming back to C63, but again, not composed enough on track for me, epic car, but too tail happy (even for me)

Pork calls, but one armed reasons stop the GT3 and wallet reasons stop PDK turbo S.

So back to the M3, I know the CSL can have issues, just like every car, I know the e92 could have issues, but the Evo is a fucking liability. Fuck knows why I even contemplated it- wishful thinking maybe:bigcry::bigcry::hahaha:

I am waiting until I get the Evo back in standard form, then I will get the new steed.

My budget is 50k max but I only want to go 43k ish ideally. But I am pretty much decided on E92, unless something really really good pops up.

The good thing about not having had the evo since nov, is that I had chance to save a few pennies up, no running costs:thumbs:
