On a genuine euro they do, not sure about the US DRL comment braymond made, maybe its different, but on a euro car, the front position lights or side lights, stay on with the high beam.Originally posted by roadmax05On bosch H1 Euro version...when high beams are on are the city lights (the bulbs located under high beam bulbs) supposed to stay on as well at the same time?

I didn't say anything about a US module, I had specifically mentioned euro.Originally posted by T-Shirt??? It was you that brought them up lol, in your post above mine, which seems to have now disappeared ???
The reason I erased the post is because I was incorrect about the E36 turning off the DRL's when the high beams are on, per your experience.
My E39, E46 and E53 all turn them off... but then again, the high beam bulb and DRL bulb are one in the same, so really it's just giving the bulb full power for highs, low power for DRLs. I figured that would of been the same case for the E36.
Again, the US never had a DRL option.

That serves me right for ignoring my teachers and writing a sentence fragment.
The 5W bulbs serve as the parking/standing lights. They are constantly on when the light switch is at the first or second positions (parking or headlights). You can also switch on just the left bulb or the right, when the light switch is off and you are parked, by pushing the turn stalk beyond the left or right turn signal positions. You need a European turn stalk to do that: a U.S. stalk lacks the switch sections and action.

Turning on left or right side when car is parked is a cool thing and yes US cars lack that feature. I think this is as a safety feature to be seen in the dark when the car is parked on the side of the street.
Adding this to a US car I think would involve more than just replacing the stalk with Euro version, probably wires and relays.
For US cars I know that when highs are turned on the lows still stay on but if the fogs where on they go off every time the highs are on.

Yes, you must leave on your parking lights on some streets where they turn the street lights off, late at night. U.S. cars have front and rear reflectors which serve the same purpose, provided people drive with their headlights on.Originally posted by roadmax05Turning on left or right side when car is parked is a cool thing and yes US cars lack that feature. It's largely a matter of swapping stalks and wiring in the extra switch sections. Here's a write up if you are interested. I know one guy in the U.S. who used them to find his car at night in crowded parking lights. Thanks for wondering about that, that suggests another refinement and project.Adding this to a US car I think would involve more than just replacing the stalk with Euro version, probably wires and relays.
In Europe, the fog lights must work independently and, in this case, remain on.For US cars I know that when highs are turned on the lows still stay on but if the fogs where on they go off every time the highs are on.
