Does the E36 M3 tranny have a VIN stamped on it?

Reason I ask is that I was negotiating the sale of my M3/4/6 earlier today and the buyer was turned off that I didn't have the original automatic transmission "takes it away from being original numbers and all" is what he said.

The car was professionally swapped by a shop over to an E46 6 speed tranny with all new Euro E36 6 speed parts, I would think this is a good thing lol

Lol. He's not going to be the right buyer for that car. Did you let him know he isn't buying a 1973 carrera RS, or be able to retire flipping an e36? If your car is the one I'm thinking of, hold out a couple days and someone who appreciates it will come along quickly.

I'm not asking allot for a very rare and pristine car but the prospective buyer is out based on this and a $250 difference in my minimum and what he was willing to pay.

I just listed it on BMWCCA this afternoon as well as some local BMW/Porsche groups near me in Texas. I need to put a nice add with pics up on this board when I get time from work to clean the car up for a shoot.

How much are you asking? Is it sam's old car?

Over here we have no VIN on anything but the chassis. Not even a sticker.

Even the service booklet has no engine/tranny nr. At least not 100% of the time.

There is a VIN sticker on my 95 M3 LTW trans and I know the original engine had a VIN sticker or else I wouldn't care so much about it not being with the car LOL. You can see (the trans sticker) looking under the car from the drivers side if its jacked up.

Im quite sure E36s had VIN tags on engine/trans...although maybe they skipped the automatic cars

Yeah, its Sams old car, would like to get $14,5-15k for it, just had the headliner done along with a couple other little things, comes with a boatload of extra parts as well. It's the nicest example of these I've seen in over 10 years.

                            I just don't get it.

The guy is looking at a 6 speed sedan then expecting a VIN# on it like he's some savvy collector, but doesn't have the knowledge to know the car never was offered with a 6 speed. I'm actually rattled. And I think you should list here and BF. I'm sure plenty of people know Sam's car and what was put into it via those avenues. Hell I don't even like byzanz and I absolutely love the car knowing the quality that was put into it.

                              ...and for a $250 difference?

If $250 is not gonna let the buyer eat for the week, he should move back in with Mom.
