I'm going to pull the car out of the garage and give it a good wash and take quality pics before putting up on here. Thanks guys!

Does the E36 M3 tranny have a VIN stamped on it?

As westopher said, that's not the right buyer for your car. He's living in a #'s matching muscle car world (not that there's anything wrong with that) This is a sign of the times as the E36 gains some momentum. Get used to it.
I do as well. The numbers were hardly visible last time I was under the car. I guess I should try to get a pic before it's totally destroyed.Originally posted by omairtheman1I have a vin on my gearbox? Weird?

This. I'd tell the buyer to pound sand. A comment like that serves two purposes: (i) the buyer isn't 100% committed and he's looking for an excuse not to buy, and (ii) he's trying to mess with your head by getting you to believe your car isn't 100% original and thus not worth the asking price.Originally posted by westopherThe guy is looking at a 6 speed sedan then expecting a VIN# on it like he's some savvy collector, but doesn't have the knowledge to know the car never was offered with a 6 speed.
Buyer's logic would make sense if the car was originally configured with a 5 speed gearbox. But if he wants an automatic, he should be looking a car so equipped.
What rear end is in the car? Is Buyer crying about how that's not original, too?
I say raise your asking price. A six speed swap is an extremely desirable modification.

That EH07533 VIN sticker is on a manual transmission, do the automatic transmissions also have a VIN on E36 M3?
I have checked on my 5HP18, can only find the ZF plate with ZF serial number, Stucklistennummer and model, but maybe the VIN is hidden somewhere I cannot see without removing parts?

In the long-run, a car that matches the build sheet will be the most valuable car. I agree. I'd like a 6-speed too, however, I will never buy a car that doesn't match the build sheet. If I need a 6-speed, I'm forced to buy a 46M or newer and at $15,000, I could find one.Originally posted by abcurranThis. I'd tell the buyer to pound sand. Sorry but I think that's silly. If you are buying for a collection and not to actually drive, go for it. But really, for a driver car?Originally posted by egebhardtIn the long-run, a car that matches the build sheet will be the most valuable car. I agree. So if I offered you my car for $12K you wouldn't buy it because it in no way, shape, or form matches the build sheet? ok... Supercharged, 6 speed, 3.38, big brakes, BBS wheels....
