Judging from my experience today, I'd have to say that the M3 will smoke the WRX. Yesterday on the way back to work after lunch, I was cruising up a straight on-ramp when I noticed my co-worker in his WRX approaching quickly. I floored it through second and third. I was pulling on him the entire time. I know this because I had two passengers who were watching him (well, the guy in the back seat was, the front passenger was clutching his door pull pretty hard and looking straight ahead). The WRX had no passengers. Later, we were rolling side by side up to a light that changed to green while we were doing probably 40 - 45. I left it in 3rd, and had at least a car length on him before I let off. I have an unshielded cone intake and the dinan SW.
The first thing he said to me while walking inside was, "I need a chip."
I have no doubt that the outcome will be quite different after he gets one.

Acutally Maxima's can be pretty quick. Amlost as quick as a 330i. The '03 Max SE with a 6sp can do 0-60 in 6.0 and 1/4 in 14.7@96. Not bad for a "family" car. My dad used to own a '97 SE with an auto. It beat my friends WRX to 40mph. Again, not bad. Their engines have one "10 best engines" award a few years in a row. Austin
As of 2004 they are in the top ten for 9 years running... last year (I believe their Q35 DOHC engine was #1 on the list) beating out 2.8L and 3.0L BMW engine and the Mini Cooper engine ... Dodges 5.4L Hemi and many more including Audi (per WARDS tests). I wonder what the 2004 models times are, since they upped the power and displacement on the new model.

this guy w/ a prelude is talking **** on me ... he has intake, exhaust... and i think that is it...
i was like.. uhh... i could take you if my car was stock... i could even take you w/ my dads 325i :/ ... so my m3 w/ a performance chip, exhaust, intake... sorry : (
What year prelude? They can be very quick.. I knew this girl in NJ who had a white 96 prelude w/ chip intake and exhaust... I saw her roast an early 90's Monte Carlo SS in the 1/4 by at least 2 lengths (SS putting out over 370 HP, drag radials and many more mods) Then, to my surprise again, she beat him in a 1/2 mile race up in the 130mph range, that shouldnt have happened, but she was at least 4 lengths ahead. Then again, she is the best damn female driver I have ever met, that could have alot to do with it. The kid in the SS left the party in shame and never returned

no way would u almost stock prelude come anywhere close to camaro ss specially in 1/2 mile race. its a 4cyl
Monte Carlo SS not Camaro SS.. I said the same thing as ypu, there is no way this could happen, until this Prelude handed the SS its ass in the 1/2.. I was sitting passenger in the Prelude and I have no reason to lie about it, it happened. Had alot to do with driver, but even a better driver couldnt have made that much of a difference.
And, BTW, Intake, Exhaust and re-programmed chip (and I just remembered, a performance clutch w/short shifter) can make a good amount of power and performance for a 4Cyl Prelude. Also the Prelude was manual, SS was auto.

you are crazy intake 5hp at most and not at the wheels clutch and short shifter no hp chip for 4cyl no hp better fuel management, exhaust 5hp at most. so 10hp gain.
stock that engine put out 195hp at the crank 165 at the wheels. so its a 175hp car dude so unless there was something wrong with monte carlo he has no way to win. you wont believe how slow hondas are after 110 no way he would of won i would now this cause i had 4 and i went 132 in it but it took me like a mile !!!!
