Yeah, well BMW OEM oil is either Mobile 1 or Castrol per my service manager. Also how would BMW or Porsche for that matter be making money by saying use mobile 1???

If you change your oil every 3000 miles or so you wont notice any difference between mobile, castrol, amsol, redline, lubro moly, etc... My mechanic has $100k+ 8 series that he runs Mobile 1 through every 3,000 miles. If its good enought for his ride, then it should do fine in mine.

What exactly has he done to that 8... seeing how every one I have ever been in has been a turd... they were always full of problems... they only look good, on the outside IMO.

I use Mobil 1 in all my cars... I have a huge stock pile of it from previous purchases/sales lol... haven't tried the lubro-moly.. maybe when I run out of my mobil 1 supply I'll give it a try..

lubro moly is german oil and it is recomended by bmw + other euro cars out there.. out here it's a lot easier to get mobil 1 and cheaper, and mobil 1 is probably the best popular oil out here for our cars.. but lubro moly is definitely a better oil that is not well known and is hard to come across.. and some people may think that if you change your oil every 3k, then it really doesnt matter what you use.. i've always changed my oil either before or at 3k, but now with lubro moly i went 4k and my oil is still clean, and i'm still driving on it.. i'll probably change it at 5k.. so i save more money now and don't worry about frequent oil changes like before..

Too much to list for the 8 series - both that i've been in have been tight so...

As far as oil goes if you are using synthetic and changing every 3-5k then you or I really wont notice a difference, so to each their own.

I don't suppose you have data to support ANY of your claims do you? :eek2:

Here's a report from a study comparing a major group of the best oils: http://undergrad.nova.edu/kevin/amsoilstudy.cfm

            and another: http://www.amsoil.com/performancetests/amsoil_vs_mobil1.htm

Currently Mobil 1 full syn 15W-50.

tried Mobil 1 full syn 10W-30 for one oil change, and car was a lot faster, got the rear wheels spinnin like crazzy,

drive hard so wasnt sure if it would keep up so went back to 15W-50.

Tried castrol syn - very good too.

I use castrol Syntec TWS 10W-60 and it works great, a little on the expensive side though. I think for my next oil change im gonna put in some mobile one to see how it compares...
