Well, of course he was, but if you change out the Euro invisa-cooler for a super-carbon rotometric cooling shield, you can squeeze into a 16" no problem.

    Ahh right, forgot about that...

So what are the advantages of the Euro floating rotors over a set of OEM US spec rotors or a set of good aftermarket slotted/cross drilled US spec rotors? Is it just looks? Or are there actual performance benefits?

Preformace really. I mean, they got nice looks too, but they are alot less susceptable to warping and whatnot, they stay cooler by their design.

What "floats"? Can someone provide a brief technical description of these rotors?

I know I should know this, but I've only ever dealt with standard, vented rotors.

Well "floating" is not exactly precise enough... but maybe this link will give you more insight:

              Max,

That link was perfect, thanks!! Now I understand what "floats".

Something to consider when it's time to do brakes.

About how much do the Euro rotors run?

Something like $149 each, I got mine for under a 100 each...

I'd say get a set of standered cross drilled thread rotors and you'll be amazed how well they work!

Do you want to think about that question and ask again?

The mounting point is the same... you're using your same calipers... what part of the rotor do you think could possibly interfere with a wheel where the caliper wouldn't???

                      :smash:

Not all of us are experts in all areas of our cars. I thought that was a legitimate question. I have not yet begun to research brake components and therefore I still know very little about them. I thought the euro "disc?" might have a larger diameter and therefore our 16" winter wheels wouldn't fit. Once I get into brakes and do some serious research I'll probably see that this is a silly question, but until then I'll be the first to admit that I don't know EVERYTHING about my car (I'm sure there are others here who are the same way).

btw, you can get floaters for 110 each or less if you look around.

Okay, so in this thread I pissed one guy off, and made another guy happy. Maybe the purpose of life is to keep that ratio 50:50.
