ZR1's are awesome, Yamaha really did an outstanding job on that engine but i still don't know if i'd do it though.

I don't understand the big deal about the ZR-1. So, it's balls fast...but lots of cars out there are, but they are probably way more reliable.
Why not buy a normal used vette and just add FI or something. Voila. Same deal. Less rarity, but who cares because no one will know anything about your rare car anyway.
I knew OF the ZR-1, but I couldn't pick one out in a lineup of other modified vettes and I'm an enthusiast.
If you want to turn a quick buck by "flipping" the car then cool, but if you're buying it for keeps figure out what exactly about it you like and find another more normal car that meets those needs.

I am pretty sure Lotus designed the engine and Mercury Marine (the guys that build extreme HP big block chevy engines for use in off shore powerboats) hand built them in oklahoma. they are supposed to last well over 100K.

just look for the extra wide rear quarters. something like 10 inches wider.
I knew of the ZR-1 as one of the baddest cars in the country at any price.

Selling a '96 M3 for a ZR1 96M3POWER? If it's a Vette you seek, I recommend a used Z06. I have never been a Vette fan and currently own two E36M3/4's. Had a chance to spend 3days in a Z06 at Justin Bell Racing school at VIR 2 years ago. I've driven my '97 M3/4 a bunch on that track and state the Z06 outperforms in every area except maybe brake response. The stock Z06 was an agile, predictable high-performance ride, even on the rain-day. Interior is kinda bland, but the car really performs well under abuses of a twisty track. The 400+ HP was a blast on the backstraight, but I can't imagine me keeping my license with one as a streetcar. Can't speak for how the Vette ages.
