    traction control?

i have a 95 m3. in this e36 forum, i see many people talk about traction control in their e36 m3. is this true? i know what button you guys are talking about. it's the button b/w the seat warmer buttons. but i'm pretty sure i don't have it cuz i've spun my car twice (NOT purposely) and i've read my manual and nowhere does it mention traction control. was traction control only for 96-99's? maybe i'm not reading to manual close enough, but i'm pretty sure i didn't see anything about it.

You're not missing out on too much though. I turn mine off when it's dry out most of the time anyway.

Probably a pain in the rear. Why not get a 96+?

The system can actually brake certain wheels and stuff if I'm not mistaken as well as cut power to the engine. It would NOT be an easy install and it's not worth it. Lots of guys are REMOVING their ASC in the first place to gain an extra few hp. Don't let traction control be a buying decision in the car process.

I agree. The traction control system on our cars isn't very advanced anyhow.

One way or another you're going thru that puddle of water, the cars not going to stop and tip-toe around it.

I just cant wait for snow, with no TC... Do you all with '96+ feel a major difference in light snow when you turn on/off TC? I hope I can survive.....

I turn off my traction control to get started in light to heavier snow because with it on, it's a hopeless battle to get rolling. You try to get it moving by giving it gas and letting the LSD sort it out, and it's braking random wheels. No good. Just give er some gas and drop the clutch and you can rip yourself out of deep snow, even with crappy A/S tires. Once I get moving I put it on again.

I start in 2nd in snow usually.

2nd eh? I just don't like the idea of having to ride the clutch a little to get it moving in 2nd, so I just drop that **** in first.

I suppose for finess, 2nd would be a better choice. It all depends on your surroundings I guess. In traffic in light snow, you shouldn't be driving your car anyway, but I would probably start in 2nd too.

Just makes it easier to avoid wheel spin IMO. Seems to work most of the time.

Snow tires + BMW = snowmobile

That might be a slight exaggeration, but snows on a BMW make the car a damn good performer in winter weather. A good set of Nokians or Blizzaks will get you through all but the worst snow storms.
