CF Hood ON THE CAR!! (finally) PICS!!!

Check them out here - CF Hood Pics (http://members.cox.net/1gli/CF%20Hood%202/index.html)

Sexy...that's my opinion. Subtle and tasteful, I think.

Had to "modify" the windshield squirters and the holes in the new hood to get a good fit.

The pre-drilled holes for the plastic hood liner clips are to small, so I'll be drilling those out, tomorrow.

It matches up with the seams of the body very well. I'm quite impressed/pleased with that. The rest of it is minor, IMO, and is relatively easily fixed.

Cosmos black is the only color that can pull the CF hood off

I knew someone was going to comment on the dirt  . The M was serving daily driver status for a while as I replaced the suspension on my Passat, the real daily driver. I just haven't gotten around to getting her cleaned up since I got the Passat back on the road. My new clay bar and orbital buffer will be put to use on the M in short order (I practiced on the Passat in case I screwed up...she looks incredible, so I'm expecting big things for the M).

We'll see how the hood closes when I get the OE latches bolted on. To me the gapping at the seams looks very close to factory (Sirius, what do you think?). That being the case, I don't think hood pins will be necessary. Plus, I think it would mess up the lines of the hood.

To be honest, I was a little unsure if I'd like the CF look. But I took the plunge and I'm glad I did. The pictures don't do it justice. Even all dirty, it is the tits!! I know I should have done head lights as the first mod, but with this GB (thanks again mbanks21) I couldn't pass up the hood...and I'm glad I didn't.

If anyone is considering a CF purchase, not that my opinion counts for much, but I highly recommend VIS Racing.

Cheers guys and thanks for the good words.... eace:

The gaps look good, as do the body lines.

Are you going to put the Roundel back on? I can't tell from the pics, but are the holes for it pre-drilled, or just marked?

Are you going to put the Roundel back on?

No, I thought I'd leave it off. I like the big, gapping indent obviously missing something on the hood. I am undecided if I want to put the white/blue roundel back on or put on a roundel that has the ///M. What does everyone think??

I can't tell from the pics, but are the holes for it pre-drilled, or just marked?

Just marked. I haven't investigated how to remove the roundel from the OE hood. I know it's a popular topic, so I was going to do a search before asking any possibly redundent questions.

On a related note...a friend of mine in PA is good friends with the owner of a performance shop. The shop owner just ordered a VIS CF hood for a Mk3 Golf . My buddy said he was as impressed with the Golf hood as he was with the pics of my hood. Shows me VIS is consistent and knows their stuff.

v.cool, that looks hot! And it fits great too.

IMHO, put the roundel on, and use the standard one... looks stock that way until you get up close...

BTW, get a Euro engine, it'd fill that hole so much better...

My hood is a little chipped from use and I think some of the bugs have eaten into the clearcoat, so I was really considering a CF hood. It looks much better than I anticipated and now I'm pretty interested.

Thanks for doing it first .

Actually, come to think of it, do you want to sell your original hood?

My GF lives in northern VA and I could come pick it up if you help me with the install...
