School me on BMW/Porsche brake upgrade options.

OK. To cut to the chase, I'm looking to upgrade my front brakes for less than $900. Obviously I'm after a multi-piston caliper and drilled and/or floating rotors.

I'm officially giving up on trying to source 840ci calipers for the 8 series 4 pot brake upgrade. NO ONE has them. Not even the re-builders. Trust me, regardless of what their website says online, they don't have them I've called them all.

I hear a lot about Porsche brakes working on our cars, and I've seen it done but I don't know enough details about what fits and what doesn't. We all know Porsche parts are more common than 8 series parts so I'm all ears.

    What do you guys know?

I got mine used from a local forum, but they were listed on BFC as well. Just gotta keep a look out

Out of curiosity, any reason for the brake upgrade desires? From what I've heard from track rats, a stock-ish E36 M3 is perfectly fine on the track with good pads, rotors, and fluid/lines.

Regardless you should go Wilwood up front (cheapest and a good mini-bbk) and Euro floaters in the rear. That's what I would do, for probably right around $1,000-$1200 (used parts)

no reason for floaters in the rear...

and you are 100% correct Brent.... there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with properly working OEM E36 M3 calipers with fresh rebuilds, ate super blue, ss lines, and upgraded pads...

                        It's the coolness factor :raspberry:

And good to hear what I said is right; I wasn't really right though, the track rats I've talked to were

So bbk is for... reducing greater speeds with engine mods... greater weight (that doesn't really happen).. maybe less brake fade over time?

Do you guys know the spec for distance between mounting points on our spindles for the caliper?

bbk = less caliper deflection, better pedal feel, better modulation, more driver confidence, less unsprung mass, little to no brake fad, and longer pad/rotor life. :thumbsup2:

All I heard was less mass
