    2013 MSS60 ECU Bricked help

Hello. Unfortunately I wasn't aware of the issue with cheap kdcan cables flashing mss60, used WINKFP progzb update and my ecu is now completely unresponsive after reaching 100%. Nothing will ping it with kdcan cable and bmw standard tools. Is there ANY way to recover this ecu? I know on the mss60 thread it says only 2008 can be BDM recovered, this car is a 2013 so not within that timeline but has there been any advancements to getting a post 2008 mss60 to reboot?

The only way is to unlock CPU via bdm then recover the ECU via bdm too. Do you have a full backup of your ECU (5Mo) ?

No backup made. Am I out of luck?

if it’s like an eeprom, couldn’t you write back a dump from another car and then later change ISN in CAS to match? I don’t know what type of data is kept on the cpu so this is just a guess.

Yes it is possible. It is also possible to do an immo off.

Yes for used ecu replacement right? But in terms of my original one that died after winkfp flash, you think it can still be recovered even though it’s 2013 ecu? The original mss60 flasher thread said only 2007-2008 ecu’s can be recovered, but sounds like Terra updated post and said post 2008 could be unlocked, meaning dead ecu be recovered on bench with BMD programmer?

It can be recovered, though the tools to do so are a bit lacking last I looked into this. Your EWS4 SK is lost unless you recover it from your CAS module. Though I'd probably just disable EWS at that point.

There is good information there, such as Post

"If it is locked, I can recover it for you but you will have to send me your DME."

Even with simple tools like BDM, Hextag, KTAG, AutoTuner, and the usual ones, is it definitely not possible?

I did the same with a cheap kdcan cable and winkfp trying to return the ecu back to stock. I did a bdm backup with KTAG, but I know that 1 processor is locked by factory, so the backup is bricked too, right ? I still have BDM acces with both processor. 2012 ECU, any ideas how to recovery it ? I already put another ECU and did an EWS delete, but if there is a way to recovery the oem one I will be very happy lol

Check your injector cpu backup (left cpu). If it is full of 0xFF, so yes it is locked and unusable. Did you do an full obd backup ? Is an "ident" of your bricked ecu still possible ?
