Interesting. The clutch switch has two function: one signal to the EWS for cranking enable, the other signal connected to the GPS in series then to the DME for idle rpm control and fuel cut off during coasting in engine braking.
So if engine stalled when stepping on the clutch pedal in neutral stop, the signal to DME was unchanged (it was an opened circuit in neutral and so with clutch pressed down it's still an open circuit). Does you car have the GPS wired in? Original manual or SMG converted?
