285s In the Rear

I’ve posted this a few times with little luck. I have coilovers but I tend to run it pretty high in the rear, I can fit a finger between a tire and the fender...

if you are running 285s in the back, could you please post your wheel / tire specs, maybe a picture or two and whether or not you had to roll fenders?

What tire? Each brand has different definitions of how wide is a 285 tire.

Either way you’ll be tight and you’ll either have to roll your fenders like crazy or consider custom fenders.

The other question is... why?

I got a set of BBS CHRs. Rears are 19x10.5”, the tires I want are Michelin PSS (AS3 no longer available). I think 285s would look nicer than 275s.

I'm running 285/35 on 10.5" wide rear wheels. Offset is et27 with no spacer and no rolled fenders. I am running 2.3 degrees of negative camber. Close but no rubbing.

I am running 275/35-18 on 18x10 et25's and they are totally fine. I'd think you could run 285's no problem.

A Michelin 285 should fit no issue. I have a Potenza 285 in the rear and it rubbed on large bumps but the suspension on the car also had 99k miles. Any bit of lowering would've probably caused rubbing. Bridgestone and Continental have fat sidewalls so avoid those. 285s have a great look to them and really make a difference(looks wise) over a 275. If you lower your car or space out the wheel, you'll need to start looking at some minor fender rolling. They're just too wide to not rub. This is for the 19s. You'll also need around 2 degrees of camber which I had. You'll be eating through tires. Mine lasted 5k miles.

I have 1.7 degrees now. I test fitted my buddy’s 285s, granted I dialed in the height a bit too much, but they fit just fine. The car is not lowered per se, but my current suspension setup is TCK DA. Wheels in pictures are 19x10 and 25ET. I plan to refinish my BBS in silver.

I use to run Michelin Pilot Sports 285/30/19s on my CSL rears. No fender rolling needed. No issue with modest lowering from my Bilstein PSS9s.

Running 285/35/18 squared on Ec-7 et35 track set up, 5mm spacer front rear 12.5mm not rubbing at all, no mods to fenders fit is good

I run a 275 NT01 on a 17x10 et25 wheel which is about the limit since it is almost flush with the fender. I do have room between the trailing arm and the wheel. With the right offset wheel probably can run a 295.

It appears that If you tend to run your car low in the back, you can’t really tuck a 285 without rear fender mods and excessive camber.

I would not say that. It depends on the width of wheel and the offset. I ran for years and had no rubbing issues. As mentioned some brand/model tires also with same sizing can vary in clearance.

Sure. The wheel in picture is 19x10 ET25. Tire is Michelin PSS 285/30/19.

I'm running Work Gnosis CV201 19 x 10 +25 with a Kumho PS91 285/30/19 tyre. Sitting on KWV1's. Springs are not at their lowest point, although they're pretty close. Guards have been gently rolled, but not flattened.
