+1. One of the good thing on the M3 is ease of Intake removal; I took me about the whole day to do the same thing on non-M car.

Agreed just giving the guy his options.

OP, before removing the intake, if you don't trust the engine coolant temp sensor reporting correct data -- too hot -- then just wait until the hidden display mode on the dash shows 100C or higher, then spit on the Tstat housing (the cylinder head pipe is even better if you can get on it) to see if it's sizzling. If not then sensor is wrong.
