    Restoring zcp trim

So my zcp trim is showing signs of aluminum oxidization. Do you all think using some mag allow polish will work to restore its look?

No mag polish is for chrome or "polished" look aka shiny/mirror-like. You might be thinking of a "brushed" look. I think I'd try fine steel wool or a soft (grey or green) scotch pad first.

Curious what degree and look of oxidation you’re getting. I have none on my ZCP trim at all.

I would be cautious with any hard materials that would scratch the aluminum. Pastes are using ultra fine abrasives that need force and towel to polish. I am not sure it would be that bad mostly wiping very lightly with if. Heck detailers use white toothpaste and brushes to clean some aluminum. Although a “test area” is suggested. In a bind the rear armrests aren’t seen too often compared to dash trim..

I’m also interested. I have no oxidation just some scratches here and there

Alu-Tec trim is sealed. Any polishing will expose the aluminum, and it will very quickly oxidize and turn ugly. Not to mention you can't really polish the high spots without hitting the low, etched parts of the finish. You will very quickly ruin it.

Don't know if it's oxidation but kinda looks like it up me.

Try 50/50 diluted simple green and soft toothbrush. It won't get rid of the scuffs and dents, but will definitely make it cleaner.

Ah, well you’re the trim expert here with your renovations so you if anyone should know I’d bet on you sir.
Guess the trim is sealed prior to milling? Because one can totally feel with the back of finger nail run across, the cut aluminum in the Alu-Tec trim.

Its not milled, its a process called photo etching. The pattern is etched with chemicals, then stamped to shape. THEN sealed.

Nice info thanks, what do they “seal” it with?

Since it's aluminum, you guys sure it's not "sealed" by clear anodizing it?

Curious to hear the response what/how it’s sealed? Hearing they use the photo etching process was enlightening.
