    Wheel/Tire questions

Should I get new valve stems for my new wheels/tires? I’ve had my low tire pressure monitor indicator on my car ever since I bought it about a year ago. I believe the car originally came with 19’s (I bought them with oem 18’s). My new wheels are 19’s. Would going back to what the car originally came out of the dealership with make the low tire pressure indicator go away after reset?

Valve stems are simple and cheap enough that it doesn't make sense to not replace them with new tires.

The E46 M3 tire pressure monitor works by tracking wheel revolution variations. It should be reset to relearn your new wheel/tires and tire pressures. You can find the reset procedure with a quick internet search.

      Yes. Get metal ones.

I had the same question few weeks ago. Never had brand new tyres on brand new wheels before so I'm a bit clueless.

Do most tyre fitting shops put valve stems on? Is there a BMW brand part # people use?

It's pretty generic, and yes they will put them on. They will know to do so if it's new wheels and new tires.

Heck, I even had my tires flipped and put onto used rims I bought for cheap at my family mechanic. New valve stems were installed without me even asking for it.

Meantime I went to a Motorsports shop that had a good reputation, they didn't replace the valve stems on another set of rims I had when I spent $1200 CAD of tires with them. One of them leaked, one of their guys replaced it for free but the other said "I would have charged you for it since it's your leaky valve stem"

              Yeppers.
They want $20 plus for a set of valve stems.
I bought a set of four metal valve stems from Apex for my future wheel swap....not cheap; and quality looks iffy.
Kosei Wheels gave you a set of metal valve stems with the purchase of wheels.
