Coolant Temp Creep to Red on Hard Acceleration

I recently had the entire cooling system refresh done (all OEM) and since then, car runs fine in normal temps but as soon as I do a couple of hard runs, the temp needle begins creeping towards red. It never happened prior to the refresh. Any idea what could be causing this? Air in the system or possibly something else? Thanks.

    Probably air in the system.

Could require bleeding the coolant circuit.
      Thermostat trouble?
Check for combustion gasses in the coolant.

At operating temperature, reach down and grab the rad lower hose to see how hot it is. Can you hold it in your hand for 1 minute with no pain? If it is not hot then there is not enough coolant flow through the rad, hence overheated.

Bleed the cooling system again; motor at idle, heater to max temp and max speed.

System is self bleeding BUT maybe air is trapped in heater core if you never opened it after the flush?
