    Alfa Romeo 4C

No. It’s not a clickbait topic, but rather an opinion thread If anything. My m3 is now near mint (minus pillars, but that’s coming soon), I’ve addressed the big 3, the cooling system, OEM+ Mods and a ton of other things, but, I have always been fascinated with the Alfa Romeo 4C, specifically a red coupe.

Yes, I completely understand the questionable quality of an Alfa Romeo, and yes it’s automatic with no power steering, two less cylinder and a turbo. I too dislike forced induction as much as the next guy, but fact still remains, I really really like these things.

With that said — Has anyone here had a personal experience with one? Would I be making a huge mistake dumping the m3 and getting into an Alfa?
    Just some old shitty cars.

The 4C is an awesome car, something that our cars could unfortunately never live up to. It out performs E46 platform in every way, but you will never hear that Airbox growl! I wouldn’t replace my M3 with it, however I would consider getting one in the future. Test drive one if you haven’t, it’s a pretty amazing experience.

I echo what Good said. Recently drove one that was tuned to 320bhp with a louder Akrapovic center exhaust. It's got a smaller footprint, your vision out of the car (im 6'3) is great, better than the M3. Turbo lag is very real, but its really fun. Extremely stiff chassis and personally I love the no power steering. It's sensory overload due to the lightness, rigidity and engine. You cant modulate throttle like you can with the M due to lag, but steering and weight transfer is very immediate. The car I drove had stock rims and was lacking rubber width all around. I could literally feel the car skip in corner it was so stiff. Very fun, very different experience.

Made me a believer in lightness, makes everything that much better.

You guys are unfortunately confirming all my suspicions. Luckily there’s nothing for sale near me in the 400 mile radius haha.

For some reason, this thread got me thinking of k swapping a 4C. Sounds like it would be an awesome thing to drive.

            It is awesome to drive.

Especially since it barely weights over 1000kg.

Only 1,8L displacement is a kind of turn off though, but then again it's very light.

No power steering is great in lightweight cars. Just not needed.

Automatic is also a turn off.

To play devil's advocate, Evo magazine called the 4C "one of the auto industry's more memorable disappointments in recent memory".

Haha. If any disappointed owner wants to hop into the “best m3 ever made”, in [arguably] the best color. I know a guy lol.

I know a couple people with 4cs, one street only, the other tracks his. From a handling/review standpoint, the guy that's track his 4C said most all of the complaints about handling can be fixed by running signifcantly stiffer bushings in the rear; really helps predictability near the limit.

Both love their cars, and have had them for years.

It hurts me to think of a low-production number, Italian sports car needing "fixes" to it's handling out of the factory. Lotus proves you can get this right the first time.

It's not exactly priced like the other low volume Italian cars. Starting at 50k€ in 2013 it was lower than the M3s of the time.

But of course M3s are perfect from the factory 🤔

A friend of mine has a track prepped 4C. He paid around 50k for it.

Says it sucks as a street car but is pretty good on track.

IDK, get what you will use the car for I guess.

Fair point, but the Elise was even cheaper

There are arguably many cars that can do what this Alfa can do, possibly a lot better. There’s just something about this car [insert your favorite Jeremy Clarkson Alfa Romeo quote here]…
