    Oil Pump Nut Stripped/Loose?

    Hey everyone!

I sent my car off for the big 3 about a week ago. Today, I received a text from the shop saying that the nut on my oil pump had backed off, and was stripped and that my oil pump sprocket was wobbling. I have seen this happen on E46's, but they were all non-M. It seems rather uncommon for this to occur on an S54. The shop was able to weld the immovable nut to the sprocket, however, I am trying to see if there's a better solution (potentially aftermarket) out there? Need be, I will just replace the oil pump with a new unit, but maybe someone else has had the same issue.

    Any help is greatly appreciated,

    Thanks!

My bet is the shop didn’t know the pump sprocket nut was left hand thread and stripped it.

Yeah, this is non issue on the S54-- it's an M54/S52 issue. At some point, be it the current shop or whoever was in there last (even if it was the dealer during the bearing recall), almost certainly someone screw up.
