    Wire in door seal

I replaced the door seals in my E46 M3 (2003) today. There is a wire from the door seal that connects in the A-pillar. Does anyone know what it does?

Pinch sensor for the windows. When you close the door the windows roll all the way up.

It connects to the air bags in the A-pillar. So be sure to connect it up.

thanks, makes sense. I couldn't figure out why a door seal would need a connection. and for K-dawg. the connector is in back of the A-pillar air bag. not the air bag itself.

It’s the pinch protection sensor. Your window will not roll up automatically with out it.

Thanks for the info & explanations all, I was about to install it in my car and was wondering the same thing if I needed to disconnect the battery. if it may be an airbag related sensor, but now know it is that pinch sensor.

I would still disconnect the battery if you're gonna be messing around with things that are anywhere near an airbag.
