Possible alternative for the CSL intake flap actuator

From what I understand, one would need an actuator motor to operate the flap: https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...e/11617511383/

However, in looking at usual stores online, I saw that this part is "No Longer Available".

Are there any known alternatives for this part?

Is your actuator dead? Or are you planning for an airbox install.

If you're going to be installing the airbox and want the flap, you need to get the whole snorkel assembly. It comes with the actuator, p/n 11617833498.

Thanks for the tip. Planning on an airbox install ... good to know that it comes with the snorkel unit. From the RealOEM pictures, it looked like it could be a separate part.

You can get them all day from non-US sources. They're used on some 4-banger models for something or another.

if you're going through the effort of getting the flap to work, you should definitely buy all of the related ducting/tubing that connects to the lower intake portion of the CSL intake.
having a flap is kind of pointless if you ignore those pieces since your volume changes will end up not being that noticeable

Yes, I am planning on getting the ducting to take full advantage of the flap. Have seen that one of those have gone NLA. But I think people use some generic ducting to get the job done.

unfortunately it looks like that's the one that does the most work in quieting the quiet part of the intake. it's essentially generic flexible ducting but with a thick muffling layer surrounding it

^ I've had one of those sitting in my closet for years now that I have been too lazy to install (along with the rest of the bottom ducting pieces). I just have the bottom open. IMO the flap still quiets it down a lot without any of that ducting in place. I have thought about just capping off the bottom and removing the flap altogether rather than installing these complicated ducting pieces, especially since I have the flap programmed to open at 100 RPM The flap sounds like an annoying "wear item" according to the real CSL folks, and most of them seem to just remove it too. If I could do it over I wouldn't bother getting the flap to work, it's like half the work of this mod.

I have to say no to this. Even with flap only (without every other tubing etc) the difference between flap open and closed is very noticeable! I had exact this setup for 6 months on my last M3.
