    Tail of the Dragon

Are there people that visit Tail of the Dragon as a group or part of an event on the regular? I go yearly for WitW(former R32 owner) and TougeFest. I see BMWs there but don't know of any group that does it.

From my last visited(last weekend). Turbo E36 M3 and black E46 M3(New York buddies), saw them going for a run so I gave chase.

I use to live a couple hours from 129, I only ever got to take my 325i on it. I would love to one day get my M3 out there!

The number of clueless over-driving boneheads that are on that road is ridiculous. Nothing like going into blind turns to find an oncoming car completely in your lane. This happens constantly. Cars, bikes, trucks do this with impunity.

        I was close-by 2 weeks ago. A 488 Pista was upside-down.

That road is said to be ruthlessly patrolled by law enforcement...

It's funny, if you drive the Tail in the middle of a winter snow storm, there isn't a lot of traffic to contend with. It does make for a bit of a harrowing experience, however. Ask me how I know...

I'm down for a drive if we want to get a group together, if not TOTD we could just as easily drive the Blue Ridge Parkway.

There are plenty of roads tor drive in the area outside of the Dragon. I usually drive the Dragon earlier or later in the day to stay away from the drama.

Not a bad as people think. I can give you exact times and dates when you can run the road without worrying about a single officer.

Definitely down for a decent sprinted drive.

Planning on going next year with a few buddies. Did it 2020. Roads outside the tail are way better. Would love to drive with more M3s

I assume the tree of shame is still there? (TotD became popular earlier with the sportbikers, and there was a tree of broken fairings that marked the numerous eats there) The last I've been was on a sportbike, and even stayed at the motel at the base. Great road, would be ideal for cars as the E46 M3s - albeit the lack of low-end power/torque might be limiting.

In Nashville and would love to join a meet-up. I've made many day trips out of it and weekends staying down at Fontana Dam, and I've never once seen a cop on the Tail itself.

I was there for Tougefest as well! Saw you a few times but seemed we were always heading in the opposite direction. I think that happened last year too. Would love to do a BMW/e46 specific meet up.

The Cherohala Skyway is a pretty sick drive too.
