Not to be funny... but how long is that list? Are you calling this a Top 3 or 5, or like a Top 20?

I'm thinking ALL the M3's, the E39, the E28, and maybe even the E24 come before that one. Jokes about E24... But I ReAlLy tried to like that V10 M5. Just couldn't.

Not to be a Debbie Downer, but I remember when this car first came out, five teenagers took one for a joy ride down a small airport runway in Florida, launched it off the end sending it something like 150' out and down into a tree splitting the car in half killing all five. I also remember saying that when I first got my M, if I had it as a teenager, I would not have made it into my twenties.

I think V10s will be fondly looked backed upon the further they age. There are parts available and ongoing projects to make these reliable: MT swaps are becoming available for 4-5k and DCT conversions are in the works.

It’ll forever remain the M with highest baseline cost to run, but when compared against equivalent exotic powertrain, it’s immensely cheaper to run than comparable R8 V10s and the likes.

look, I have no beef with Steve Bangle, I like the styling of the e60/61 cars but the s85 may as well run on brown coal.

Winter tires are mandated by law here and I would absolutely recommend anyone thinking of driving a M car in the snow, ice or below freezing temps to run a dedicated winter setup. I run Michelin Alpine 5 on these and it's been great.

Just changed Injector on cyl 1 and the entire fueling system in the tank; pump & filter. No more lumpy idles and it pulls hard!

I've put on 14,000km since I've acquired it in July and it has taken me to every other national parks of the province; it's such a great car.
