    Smoke test/vac leaks

Been doing some smoke testing today to seek out any vacuum leaks

I undid my intake plenum and rubber gloved all intakes.

The only place I could see smoke leaking from was the ICV pipe that connects to the plenum which I let vent to air as I had the plenum off.

I assume this is okay and doesn't mean fault with the ICV? I assume the ICV opens and closes to let air in to control the idle? But if the car was off and I was smoke testing the ICV should be closed? Therefore not letting any smoke out of its air intake pipe?

I wouldn't go seeking a problem where there is none. If you have idling issues then I would check it. Until then, I wouldn't worry about it.

I have idling issues hence the smoke test

As mentioned only place smoke leaked was the ICV pipe that goes to Airbox that I had vented to open air.

My thoughts are that when the car is off the ICV is closed and so smoke should not leak out of its air intake pipe? Correct? Or nothing to worry about?

The passive position of the ICV is somewhat open. Not completely open, but also not closed. It basically just allows the car to idle.

If you want to test it out, disconnect the valve and start the car (ask me how I know lol).
