Karbonius Matte Finish CSL Airbox Pic Request

I have a nearly decade old geoff steel airbox on my car which originally came off a race car so it's looking a bit worse for wear. Looking at finally upgrading to a karb but curious how the matte finish box would look if anyone has gone that route. Seems everyone and their mum has a CSL airbox these days, some matte finish could be a nice differentiator. Could look awesome, but I'm worried it might not look very OEM.

Not Karbonius, but I just received this in matte finish. Like you, I love these finishes for engine bay components 👌

That looks good. Maybe I should have ordered my Haimus box in that same finish. Where is that 2000 grit sandpaper I have...

Matte cannot be polished; therefore, gloss is the better option for clear coated items.

It cannot be polished indeed - but it looks great on engine bay components. Outside of Karbonius, the gloss airboxes I have seen appeared left on an "off the gun" finish with no attention paid to wet sanding & polishing out nibs in the clear.

Realistically, engine bay components won't ever need a detail beyond a quick clean up. I wouldn't pick matte finishes on body panels exposed to regular mitt washes and wear & tear.

The Haimus airbox I have is flawless IMHO. I couldn't speak higher about the fit/finish of the final product. For whatever that's worth...

Yea! As I understand it, their Premium Plus trim is essentially more clear coats, and an extreme attention to finish quality. It does look phenomenal from pictures and videos I have seen - glad to hear it translates in the flesh.

I received the premium plus trim. Flawless. And the aluminum bungs are top notch. I'm impressed. And, call me crazy, but I really like their CF weave pattern - parallel vs. perpendicular to airflow. Something about the laminar aesthetics of it all I think. Fluid dynamics was a tough class for me...still scarred maybe.

I look forward to seeing how it looks in the engine bay

Schiffi I have seen their photos before. I kind of want to see it in a more OE engine bay without the carbon accessories, preferably with the OE M Power script. The matte finish looks at home surrounded by other matte carbon pieces, curious how it looks in a more standard bay as mine would be.

You've got balls of steel to do this to a carbon airbox.

I honestly envy this level of boredom.
