    got my hands on an Avin Avant 4 so updated the OP with weights


    The Avin Avant 4 measured was the Qualcomm 665 | 4G LTE | 4GB RAM | 64GB ROM | 8-core CPU version.
    People have said there is an Avin Avant 5 on the market, when I asked them directly about this they said the Qualcomm chip versions are considered the Avin Avant 5
    Even though they are still labeled as the Avant4 . . . .

      Edit: Never mind. Looking at the Avin wiring rn, and this is way outside of my skillset.

      I’ll be installing an Avin Avant 4 and plan to keep the HK amp and speakers. The harness that came with the head unit is pretty beefy, so I’m hoping to thin both the factory harness and the aftermarket harness, keeping only what’s needed to run the head unit and speaker system. The CD changer and BM53 in the trunk are also coming out. Do y’all have any advice on how I should go about this, as a person who is not good with wiring/electronics? The only wiring work I’ve done in the past is hardwire a dashcam and add CAN connection for AIM SOLO. FWIW, the car is completely stripped out, and the dash will be coming out soon so I can install new carpet (ie should have access to entire wiring harness).

        the simplest way would be to unplug your cd changer or whatever component you dont plan on using anymore, and slowly remove it from the wiring harness as it snakes through the cabin to the head unit.
        the problem with that is since the wires in the harness are twisted together, you'll have to unbolt/unclip parts of the harness from the chassis as you go in order to gain enough access to get the wires out.


        labor wise it's easier to just pull the whole harness from the vehicle and run new wiring directly from the Avin to the vehicle. I did that for my avin3 with the help of forum members here. I recently bought the Avin4 which unfortunately, has a completely different wiring layout, so i'm going to have to redo the custom harness. when i get around to it i can post a DIY outlining the work involved

          I’d love to see how you put together the custom harness. Since I already have the car completely stripped, I don’t mind removing the OE harness. I’m trying to get the interior back together in a month or two, so my biggest challenge will be to figure out how to make the custom harness. May have to hire an electrical engineer lol
