Do you have the BMW iPod interface? That was the cause of my problem years ago.. pulled it out, and problem fixed.

I'm sure the iPod didn't cause the bulb lead blob melting.

This is a normal BMW problem, new and old. I'll have a 2021 X1 come in with bulbs that look just as bad as that. When warranty, I replace, when customer pay, I do exactly what sapote recommended unless the socket isn't holding the bulb very well.
