    Floppy gas/fuel door

Saw a couple fixes on youtube....

Noticed my fuel door just flops around (doesn't close enough for the lock pin to engage), and was going to replace the spring like a buddy of mine did.....but downside w/ that is the spring will no longer be body colored.

I'm gonna try spraying the spring/joints w/ white lithium grease seeing that it has worked for others...just curious what has worked for you guys.

The lithium grease worked for me, may as well try that first.

Try flipping the spring upside down. Not kidding.

Replace the spring, and add 2 little magnets in your fuel door (size of a quarter) one on the door and one inside and it won’t open during high speed driving/ racing

Or code the car to automatically lock the doors after a certain speed. This will make the lock pin hold the fuel door closed while driving.

Replacing the spring and/or white lithium grease don’t always work. I bought three new springs and greased the spring(s) but the gas door is still loose (after trying all three springs).

OP - I used magnets like another forum member stated to steady the filler door.

I have some extra magnets; if you’d like, I’ll send you a trio of these little devils for free to resolve your floppy gas filler door problem. Just let me know what your pleasure is.

Replace the spring. It was like 10 bucks.

What did the fix end up being?

A little lube and it clicks back as it should. Prob not a permanent fix but it will do for now
