Probably the lawyers wanted to avoid tranny reliability issue during the warrantee period. The device works to engage the clutch smooth, less jerk on the tranny internal parts, driven by a powerful engine.

Sure if you want to cater an M car to people that don't know how to drive manual properly, but given it was an M car they should have left it out.

The good ol CDV delete. Right up there with the golf tee mod on the non-M's.

I don't remember what the car feels like with it installed. I don't recall it being a huge difference but removed it anyway.
