Man that is a weird one, I'm definitely not paying $50k for this car under any circumstances. I kind of understand the thought process, but not on that car. Which is to say I would spend another 10 to 20k to get something with less mileage and in better overall condition.

That car seems to have lived outside in east coast winters and also near the ocean with that kind of rust underneath - my uncle's e60 had rust like that which lived by the ocean its entire life. That rust looks like something straight out of car mechanic simulator haha

That rust is really gonna hurt the value even if it's mostly cosmetic. It's weird how clean the subframe plate areas look given all that corrosion.

I'm curious what it'll end at. Awesome spec and tastefully modded but the rust gives me pause.

EDIT... I've pretty much decided these seats are never going to be redone in factory material, and that's probably a good thing -- given the production numbers any "originality premium" is probably illusory. And I'm not sure I want more of that material, given my life with it so far.

I daily a Macan GTS these days with the PDK . . .. this was my first daily that wasn't a manual, ever. It was a sort of my version of getting practical, as my wife hated driving my 6MT 340i, and life meant I was needing a hitch and room in the back more and more often. In a way I was dreading it, but honestly, for a daily at this point in my life I don't miss the manual at all. Part of that is the PDK, it's really amazingly fun to rip through the gears with the paddles, throttle blips on downshifts and all that. I have a Cobb flash and an AWE exhaust, which help. But it's given me newfound respect for what a proper dual clutch paddle setup can feel like.

I also race E30s in lemons and champ car, those are obviously manuals. There are certainly times when navigating a corner in heavy traffic where also coordinating the heel/toe is the last thing I need to deal with! So I can see the perspective that less involvement in the shifting process means more mental time to focus on braking zones, turn-in, the line etc.

All that said, there was never any question my E46 would be a 6MT.

Some cars these days manual just doesn't feel as correct on. I ripped on a GT3RS at one of those Vegas track experience providers. The car was so insanely fast and grippy I feel like manual would have been out of place.

I haven't driven a G80, but even on an F80 M3 the manual felt slightly out of place for some reason. That rubbery ZF feel doesn't help, but they just have a ton of power.

Yeah these are as nice an athletic cruiser as they are a track car.

One of my buddies has a few of the GT series 911s (I forget which ones, don't speak Porsche) but we were discussing in the shop one day manual v paddles. I found his take interesting, something to the effect of: "I drive faster and more aggressive with the paddles. In the manual I tend to just take it easy. Too much work to drive fast." That made too much sense to me. Of course we're both well into our 50s, don't need any extra work.

A 6Series shark, sure give me a stick -- it doesn't go fast anyway. But for this and the AMG I prefer paddles.
