isn't BAT overpopulated with dealers inflating their own market? As a potential buyer, I'm focusing my searches more on C&B than BaT and I don't want anything to do with dealers, which means the discrepancy in sale prices should even out over time.

I just talked to a dealer about an e39 M5 and he talked about how it was a great car mechanically, then I got sent the most recent service invoice where the shop states the customer declined to replace a leaking tire, was waiting for her tax refund to pay the bill, there was duct tape under the hood stating the date of the most recent oil change and that 5w30 was used, and that the coilovers were shot.

of all the S engines to abuse the M62 can handle it better than most, but that one statement scared me off of all dealer listed auction cars.

You're buying an E39 M5, they're absolute maintenance hogs and they all need work. It really does come down to the seller. I prefer the ones owned by older dudes that don't really rip them and use an open checkbook.

Verdict is clear - sell on BaT to get the most money. Apologies if this has been posted previously.

BAT has been around in some form for 20 years. There's a lot of buyer habit and loyalty that has been built.

While I probably would today, when I bought my M3 in late '24 it never even crossed my mind to use C&B.

Funny ive never been a fan of the IR exterior. Interlagos for me Always LOL.

+1 on Imola. Love that color. It was my backup option, and I would be equally happy with it. Imola is just stunning in person. BMW didn’t choose interlagos for the handschalter, just saying.

Keeping a tight eye on this one. Great spec and looks well maintained / good condition. Miles is the interesting thing here at 87K which (imo) moves it out of the big money collector buying pool but it's already at $46K and the auction still has a ways to go.
