Second gear full throttle stall (?) + 98.8% throttle + Random annoying squeak

    Hey all,

Like the title says, I cannot figure out these two issues and I thought to ask here to see what you guys think –

Scanned the ECU and no codes for either of these (getting a random 69 Plausibility, engine temperature but I figure that's been from LA weather being over 100 degrees, my temp sensor was replaced in the last 8k miles)

    1. Second gear full throttle stall around 5,000, only when shifting full throttle from first gear
It's the weirdest thing and it's only happened twice now, but I thought to ask before getting stranded somewhere. I'll be full throttle first gear until redline, second gear I'll get back on it - foot to the floor, clutch engaged - and there's nothing for a split second. It's almost like the traction control has come on, but there's no flashing of the traction light like there normally is. I need to try this with traction control off and see if I reproduce it, perhaps it's just a split second of traction control kicking back on? It feels like the engine is being controlled via spark on all 6 cylinders to not ignite and move forward, as soon as that split second is over the car is right back in it with no hesitation. It's the strangest thing. No CEL, no EML.

    2. 98.8% throttle at full throttle via scan tool, normal?
I scanned the car for the above issue tonight and was checking my throttle position. If I floor it from 0%, it goes straight to 98.8%. However, if I gradually apply more throttle, then by the time I get to full throttle it'll 2/4 times go to 100%. I'm only curious if this is normal or perhaps just the scan tool. The thing that is strange about this is that my throttle body squeaks when depressing it and there is an electronic sound coming from the throttle body when I move my foot to open or close the throttle. When the position does hit 100% it changes that electronic hum to another frequency, meaning that it seems like it is changing its state from 98.8% to 100%, at least in that sound. I wonder if that's why some days the car feels like an animal, and other days I'll think that the car feels a bit off. Any ideas there?

    3. Random annoying squeak - this is driving me nuts.
I have located it to the front right it seems, and this is the best that I can describe it to you (I've tried taking videos but it doesn't pick it up for some reason) -
    - There is a faint squeak, that sounds like to pieces of metal rubbing against each other to make a really annoying sound that is very soft, but audible
    - I notice it most when going 15-30 mph, and happens usually on small cracks and bumps in the road. If there are bigger bumps it does't do it.
    - This is going to sound nuts: when I wash the car, it doesn't make the noise for about a week or two, and then comes back
    - I have pushed my weight into the door sills to try to see if its the suspension going back and forth, no luck
    - I've wiggled the fenders, moved the wheels around, no luck
    - The passenger side sway bar bushing is on its way out it seems, and I'll need to replace the sway bar as well from New England rust over the years but I cannot get it to squeak while it's stationary (maybe that's it?)
    - When coming into my garage tonight I noticed it again (it happens seldomly when pulling in and I can hear it when I'm about to back into my garage) this time I tried it and it SEEMS like when I let the clutch out it makes the noise. I went in reverse, then in first gear, and it seemed from that small movement that it made this noise.

Now I'm freaking out thinking it's maybe the clutch or something. I'm wracking my brain of what else it could be or how else to produce it, but that's how its been so far. Nothing other out of the ordinary than that.

Thank you all in advance for any tips or insight you may have! I'll report back if I find out anything further of course for future readers to diagnose their own situations.

    Jonathan

I get the electronic hum too, there are some videos online on how to reset/recalibrate your throttle pedal/position sensors which might be worth doing?

Also, the SMG pedal has a kick down, although you state 6MT I'm just throwing this out there in case you mash through this kick down when you floor it but down if you go easy..

Your squeak could be the damper top mount too, or the sway bar end link, or bushing, or.. lots of things.. IDK.

    Good luck!

Mine has issue #1 too, sometimes, feels like DSC intervention but is not, I found that it doesn't happen if I slightly lean into the accelerator, so not hammer it down in one motion. Obviously this is not a fix and something is wrong, maybe someone else knows.

With 2nd gear engaged with clutch pedal to floor, then gas pedal to floor -- this would cause over rev and DME cut off injectors until clutch engaged to bring down the rpm.

Good point! I recalibrated the throttle position sensor and then tried it again, same thing, unfortunately. Good thought though!

Hmmm that's interesting, I wonder if it's the same issue?

OH interesting - I wonder if I some how tripped that? I never have felt it before. Perhaps I just shifted too quickly?
