Retrofit of the DSP2 audio system from an E85 into my E46

    E83 and E85/86 DSP amps are exactly the same in hardware. They just change the outputs depending on coding.

    The rear door speakers are used normally, just the trunk ones are missing due to the subs.

    E85/86 coding has Front: High/Mid/Low and Back:High&Mid door only and Subwoofers (highpower)

    E83 is Front: High/Mid/Centralbass (highpower) and Rear: Door High/Mid

      I am still working on this! Latest update is on the software side, it is now possible to read and write the DSP2 module without having to rely on INPA or BMWScanner.

      With the help of Claude I managed to find almost all filter settings in the BMW coding data. Now I just have to figure out what filter is used with which channel connecting to which speaker.

      Hopefully I can create a complete suite to have a openly configurable 10ch DSP amp in the end

        What are you using to read and write the data if not using pasoft or INPA

        Assuming you are still using the inpa dkan cable?


        ​​​​​​ I was actually just thinking about this this morning. Trying to use Claude to figure out a way to read and write data to the ehc2 module in my 4.8is I have dual axle air suspension.

        I would love to be able to write some custom software using Claude that would allow me to quickly flash different height settings much quicker and on the go than loading up a laptop and with ncs expert to do it

        And then having an interface wrapped up in a Android application that communicated via OBD using an elm Bluetooth adapter

          Yes, its a normal K-Line interface like for Inpa and co. The DSP uses the BMW DS2 protocol to read and write. It's relayed by the cluster to the I-bus.

          And I integrated a read/write process into the application so you can directly read the eeprom content, modify and write back to the DSP from it.

          It's on hold currently because I am moving flats and my shop. Next step is measuring the frequency and delay with measuring microphone to find the channels for each filter.
